Events to Brighten Your Holiday Season

One of the staples of the Holiday season is the prevalence of fun activities to enjoy with family and friends. No doubt many of us are heading to a large family gathering (or having our families come to us) for Christmas Eve, but it’s nice to pepper the days between now and then with merriment. Below are some options for you and yours to check out.

Christmas Parades

Of course, no holiday season would be complete without Christmas parades. This year, the annual Zebulon Christmas Parade will begin at the Zebulon Community Center and end at J & M Chevrolet. Come and see Santa, marching bands, amazing floats, and more. If that doesn’t sate your thirst for local parades, head over to the Rolesville Christmas Parade for more traditional holiday fun.

Behind-the-Scenes at the Executive Mansion

If you want to wrap your holiday in historical packaging, sign up for the behind-the-scenes experience at the North Carolina Executive Mansion. The event costs $60 and refunds are available up to a week before the event, in case your schedule becomes cluttered. Presented by Pigfish Lane Antiques and Interiors with support from Overture Centennial, the event will allow guests to tour rooms that are usually unavailable to tourists. Plus, you will hear about the history of the house from members of the Fine Arts Committee and First Lady Kristen Cooper.

Dashin’ Through the Bars

Okay, so sometimes adults need a certain pizzazz during the holiday season. If you aren’t opposed to alcoholic beverages, the Dashin’ Through the Bars bar crawl may be the perfect event to let off a little steam. The idea is to spend a little time at each of Raleigh’s top five bars, making friends and sampling the wares along the way. Wear an ugly Christmas sweater or dress up in holiday costume to get into the Christmas spirit. The event’s prices range from $11.25 to $30, and it starts in Glenwood.
