Hiking: it’s an activity that’s on the rise in our more ecologically and health conscious day and age. Luckily, we live in beautiful Zebulon, NC, with its many local trails and nearby hiking areas. Read on to discover the best spots to hit the trail while not straying too far from your front door.
Battle Park in Rocky Mount
Roughly half an hour away, Battle Park is a lovely park in Rocky Mount that encompasses the area from which the town got its name. The site of the original settlement and the location of Rocky Mount’s first post office in the late 1800s, Battle Park has scenic overlooks you can hike toward as well as an old Confederate monument and picnic tables for lunch. If you’re looking for a peaceful, contemplative hike, try strolling along the nearby Tar River.
Little River Park
A natural, local park open from sunrise to sunset, Little River Park is situated on the river that gives it its name. Closer to home than Battle Park, LRP also has picnic tables for a cosy lunch and features an awe-inspiring dam and waterfall. This one is only ten minutes away, so it’s great for an early morning hike when you have other plans in the evening.
Zebulon Community Park
Right in the heart of town, Zebulon Community Park is a great place to experience the natural vibes that make our town a wonderful place to live. The walking trail is only the first feature that might attract your attention here. Spanning more than 47 acres, the park includes picnic tables for parties and lunches, two playgrounds for kids, two multipurpose athletic fields, two outdoor basketball courts, and more. There is something for all of your family members
Living in Zebulon is a perfect way to experience the outdoorsy, small-town feel while still being close to the more “modern,” fast-paced business world of the Triangle.
