February has begun, and we all know what that means: Valentine’s Day is coming up soon. For those of us who need a little help thinking of ways to spoil our spouses or significant others, here are a few ideas to get your mind working.
Go the Traditional Route
There’s nothing quite like the old school when it comes to romantic gestures. The tried and true method is to prepare dinner and a movie for your loved one. Have the kids stay with friends or relatives and prepare a nice meal for your significant other, maybe completing it with a lush bottle of wine for good measure. The fact that you went out of your way to make a meal, clear the schedule, and select a film to snuggle up on the couch to can mean the world to your spouse.
Dinner at the Art Museum
Take your beau to Valentine’s Dinner at Iris — a night of sophisticated revelry at the North Carolina Museum of Art’s famed in-house restaurant. A three-course prix fixe menu will be preceded by champagne as you arrive. After your meal, you are free to roam the halls of the NCMA and discover the art that makes our state so special. Bonus: the museum is only about half an hour’s drive away!
The Scenic Outdoors
If fine dining is not your style, maybe hiking and picnicking is. In Zebulon, we have several nearby parks available for your enjoyment. Check out Little River Park, lounge by the waterfall with your spouse, and bring along accoutrements for a delicious picnic in nature. Luckily, you don’t have to travel far for this one. The Little River Park is only a nine-minute drive away from Weaver’s Pond.
We hope these ideas can spark some creativity in your mind. You don’t have to feel obligated to take our suggestions at face value, either. Check out our online list of local attractions and see which ones best fit your relationship. Or take our ideas and conform them to your significant other’s interests. Maybe go hiking or sight seeing earlier in the day and finish off with a prepared dinner and movie or a visit to the NCMA. The possibilities are limitless. From the Weaver’s Pond staff, we hope you have a Valentine’s Day filled with love and excitement!
