The New Year is just around the corner, and parties and merriment abound. But one thing is true: a new year always brings new design trends to follow in order to stay on the cutting edge of home ownership. We’ve compiled a list of some of the top forecasted home design trends for the upcoming year.
Accents in Copper
One of the trends of 2018 was to use rose gold as an accent to make rooms pop. However, many design experts are expecting 2019 to be the year of the more muted copper. While still allowing for excitement, copper accents are more earthy and cast orange and red light around the house.
In the past few years, muted colors have been very “in.” While this is still true for 2019, some experts expect to see a return to bright red accent pieces like armchairs and paintings to provide focal points in home design. Or: decorate your rooms in varying shades of red to provide ambiance.
A Distinct Lack of Shine
2019 is set to be the year of matte finishes. Futuristic and ultra-modern, matte finishes have started making a big move into furnishings. Unlike louder, high-gloss finishes, matte-finished ware provides a calmer, quieter, more peaceful feel that lets you experiment with brighter colors that otherwise would be too intense.
Keeping it Local
In our more conscientious modern world, one of the growing trends is to accent your rooms with artwork from local artists and designers. Not only does this help the local economy, but you will have a unique, interesting work of art in your home instead of mass-produced pieces.
A Focus on the Ceiling
Even the most design-savvy among us often forget one element of our rooms: the ceiling. This oft-overlooked element is becoming less of an afterthought in the coming year. 2019 is expected to see an increase in stylized and colored ceilings to provide captivating, eye-catching pizazz. Whether covered in wallpaper or hand-painted, expect to see dazzling ceilings in 2019.
